Reserve opens today!
Luxurious lounges with sleek, posh interiors and fine finishings are something you expect to find in New York and Las Vegas. But Kansas City’s dining scene gets kicked up a notch today with the opening of Reserve at the new downtown Ambassador Hotel.
This weekend I got a sneak peak at the grandiose dining room and, more importantly, the menu. I’m happy to report I’ve already got a girls night out planned to take in all the restaurant has to offer.
The decor is lavish, stately and contemporary all at once. The gorgeous white leather, mahogany wood, and velvet couches play well with clean stainless light fixtures and cool white marble. It’s a place you want to be.
The cocktail list is still being developed. But one item sure to be on the list is a take on the bellini called the Be-Lenny. Lovingly named by the waitstaff after the general manager Lenny Tocco. Prosecco with some Fee Brothers peach bitters and finished with a cube of raw sugar, it was a perfect way to start the evening.
The appetizers I sampled hold promise that the rest of Chef Geoffrey van Glabbeek’s menu will be solid. Crab cakes were crunchy outside with fresh and sweet chunks of meat inside. The lobster corndog was filled with a fat piece of lobster tail and finished with a touch of whole grain mustard aioli.
Chef Geoffrey told me how he prepares his short-rib entrée and they sound fantastic. Hopefully, the rest of the menu is prepared with as much care and good taste as those I sampled. As for that short-rib preparation, I can’t wait to order them and lots of other enticing dishes very soon.
